My Hero

My Hero!
My mum is my hero because she cares for my family and I.
My mum does catering because she enjoys cooking. She is as busy as a bee, she is always working hard.

My mum comforts me when i am sad. She is generous and is always willing to help. She will give me a hand with things if I can’t do them yet.

My mum is a leader, I think if everyone was like her, the world would be much better.

  Meerkats
Did you know Meerkats can close their ears?

The meerkat’s scientific name is Suricata  Suricatta and their family name is Herpestidae. A Meerkat’s run can be faster than a humans walk.

Meerkats live in the Kalahari desert in Botswana. They live in groups to over 40 Meerkats. They dig large underground tunnels and when a predator comes they go down their tunnels and hide.

Meerkats have brown fur. They use their tail to balance while they are standing on two legs. A male meerkat weighs about 730g and females weigh about 720g.

Meerkats eats both plants and animals which means they are omnivores, they eat bugs, fruit birds and eggs.

Meerkat babies are called pups, the pups weigh about 36 grams.

A Meerkat is also called a Suricate.
Meerkats are part of the mongoose family.

Meerkats are not endangered so no one needs to worry about them. They should be around for a long long time

Once there was a dragon, her name was Star she lived on an island with her friends and family. She was very happy until one day when she found that there was a big ice wall separating the island. The worst thing about the wall was that her best friend lived on the other side, she thought she would never see her again.

After a week and a half she was sick of not seeing her best friend. She thought of an idea. I will smash the wall! she got a bunch of things to smash it with but when Star tried, it wouldn’t smash. Everyone on the other side heard the noise and thought the wall was going to break but it didn’t.

Finally Star had an idea! She decided she would melt the ice wall, she took a deep breath and she started to breathe fire, it didn’t work. Star called all the fire breathing dragons on her side of the wall, they were all in line ready to breathe fire and melt the wall. Ready, set, go! They all breathed fire, after 2 hours the wall had melted and formed a lake but they still couldn’t get over (most of the dragons couldn’t swim.)

Hey! I have an idea said one of the water dragons. We can make a bridge! The water dragons swam to the other side of the lake and told the dragons that they were building a bridge, both sides set to work and managed to build the bridge. Star jumped with joy and she ran to see her friends and from then on all the dragons lived happily ever after.

 Taipa Bridge!
I think that the Taipa Bridge should be improved, do you?

Firstly, in the summer it is really busy! Sometimes people get mad because they have to wait. Usually people have to wait for ages! Once I had to wait half an hour at the Taipa Bridge. It really would be great if the bridge could be improved.

Think how fun it would be to have a new bridge to jump off! There would be much more space. If there is more space obviously that means there could be more people jumping off the bridge.

It would be a lot safer to drive on, say if someone doesn't see the give-way sign and crashes into another car. That wouldn't be very nice would it?

Have I convinced you enough? the Taipa bridge MUST be built, you have to agree with me!

I am Emma Kate Maginness
I wonder if I could get a horse in a year (I really want one)
I hear a lot of talking people in class (including me)
I see a lot people everywhere.
I want a horse because they are one of my favourite animals I love riding them.

I am lucky to be an only child
I pretend that I have a horse sometimes.
I feel a lot of different things in different times.
I touch my cat because he is fluffy and soft.
I worry about silly things like not having desert.

I am half african because my mum is from africa and my dad is from new zealand.
I understand english and a bit of afrikaans
I say a lot of stuff at home and with friends
I try to get a horse because I love riding them
I hope that I get a horse because HORSES ARE AMAZING

I am out of ideas for this poem!
Ko Rangikapiti te mauna.
Ko Mangonui te awa.
Ko Maginness te iwi.
Ko Shanny raua ko Steve oku matua.
Ko Emma toku ingoa
Hello i'm Emma I live with my mum, dad, and cat, ( I am an only child ) My cat is VERY fluffy! I was born in Nelson I am half African, part English, and many other things but I don’t know what they are. I have been to Africa before it was AMAZING! I saw my favourite bird when I was in Africa it is a Lilac Breasted Roller and I also bought some gold there it is shaped as a lion cub. I am quite tall with blond hair and blue eyes. My favourite colour is pink! I also like blue and yellow. I love reading books I don’t have a favourite book there are so many to chose from I like harry potter, pony club secrets, animal magic, and loads other books. When I grow up I want to be a horse rider I want to do a show jumping. Ella and I are planning on making a horse riding school we will do lessons camps shows and some other things it’s called Ella and Emma’s Star Stable. I also had a plan way before that it was of a theme park I still think it is a good idea but I also like Ella and Emma’s Star Stable. Here are the things I like to do….  Swimming horse riding drawing and play with settings on my laptop and seeing what type of stuff I can do I like using websites to create things and send them to my friends. I don’t like spelling i’m not the best at it i’m better at reading. I can’t help this but I just hate it when people copy me. I sometimes randomly have great ideas they just pop into my head. I have moved house a few times I moved from Nelson to the Portage then from the Portage to Doubtless Bay Villas (that was when I moved up north) then from Doubtless Bay Villas to 108 Turvey road then 116 Turvey road which is right next to 108 Turvey road I had to move because 108 was on sale so I moved next door and we are renting 116 soon I will be might because I will have to leave Mangonui school we are thinking about moving to Kerikeri. Last year I was lucky to see my friend from Nelson her name is Merle she came to our house on a long weekend on Monday she came to school with me. She said her school is very different to ours.
